OUR PROBLEM IS NOT CORRUPTION by Femi Aderibigbe

More and more, day by day, my choices for entertainment, leisure, education, communication, recreation, shopping, technology etc, are being determined in Beijing, Jo Burg, London, New York, California, South Korea, UAE, Singapore, Bombay and even recently Kenya And Accra!

Sadly, my "representatives" are busy sharing both our investment capital and profit, in order to be able to entertain themselves and their cohorts with the products of these offshore decisions.

We have convinced ourselves, largely due to wholesale consumption of unfiltered reports from our often interests driven media, that nothing good can come out of Nigeria and Nigerians, conveniently forgetting the thousands of examples of people who are doing phenomenal things in an unstable environment.

The beneficiaries of our self loathing and selective amnesia are opportunistic foreigners who understand that nature abhors vacuum.

It's time we start recognizing, supporting, showcasing, celebrating and rewarding our own, instead of savagely tearing each other to pieces and allowing outsiders to calmly stroll in and pick the pieces, ship back to their countries, repackage and then sell back to us! Our problem is not corruption, it's the base mindset that breeds a self-destructive type of corruption.
