After spending about 11 weeks in detention, the fiery no
nonsense blogger and social critic was released from the Port Harcourt Prisons
where she was held in a defamation case against Pastor David Ibiyeomie.
Although the court had granted her bail since April 11,
2017, Kemi claims that the court deputy registrar, one Maimunot Folami
frustrated her perfecting her bail conditions. She denies the allegation and
counter claimed that she has been working with Ms. Olunloyo's lawyers actually
to clarify all aspect of her bail conditions, according to PREMIEUM TIMES.
The Committee to Protect Journalists was amongst civic
groups that condemned the charges and called on the Nigerian government to
withdraw the draconian measures against Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo.
