David Rohde, a global affairs analyst believes that the
reason President Trump is so keen on keeping the flame of public spat with the
Mayor of London alive despite public sympathy for Londoners and the Mayor is
because the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, is a Muslim.
He said this on a CNN morning show.
Recall that Donald Trump on Monday castigated the Mayor
out of context, tweet-quoting him as saying Londoners have no reasons to be
"alarmed". "At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and
Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed! Donald Trump says.
However, the Mayor was making reference to the increase
in security personnel on the streets of London and the need for Londoners to
remain calm and not alarmed when they sight them.
This has drawn huge criticism against the President of
the United States and even some are calling that he should not be given a red-carpet
welcome in the United Kingdom or even invited at all.
David Rohde then added insult upon injury by stating that
Donald Trump abhors everything and everyone that represents Islam and that's
the only explanation for his attack now.
During the elections 2016, Donald Trump had a running
public spat with a gold star family, also with the name Khan, and he didn't
back down as he continually criticised them for standing up against him.
This latest tweet-storm is coming on the heels of a
Supreme Court judgement on yet to be decided on his travel ban on 7 Muslim
countries.
