ARE AFRICANS HOMOPHOBIC?

As I ponder upon the happenings in Nigeria these recent weeks culminating into something like a month, I can't but wonder if the world is going really fast into madness. ---click to continue reading---
Many things fuel my muses but only one really sticks. I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't read the article written by Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to the President and as much as I don't like anything coming from the presidency these past few years, I am compelled to join words with his and make a statement. Not to beat around the bush, my angst is nothing but the controversy generated by the signing into law, the illegality of two same sex individuals who intends to copulate and for whatever reasons be what nature (or God for the more spiritual minded) never panned us out to be.I shake my head, not in pity or anger but in disgust and shame. Disgust because as an adult who have come to understand the nature of two adults being in love and the things that go on behind the scene, I can only imagine what two same sex couples would be enjoying that could really be like the real thing. Shame because Man (and I use MAN to represent human race; apologies to feminist, I am one too) has found out they can do whatever they want as long as their mind can focus on it. If the mind focus too much on being ONLY with the same sex (relationship wise), then the absurdities are borne of such awkwardness and madness.Being gay is madness! With no apologies to anyone, you can only be twisted in the soul, body and mind to leave the pleasures derivable from the opposite sex (trust me, there are a lot) and settle for the awkward. It is a mental issue and such people needs medical help rather than creating a place for them in our sane society.I can still live with them (gay) if I have to, though I fear for my unborn kids and the legacy I would have left as a father if I didn't stand against madness, what I will not accept is when a sovereign state gives an order to another sovereign state. If we eroded our culture in the place of civilization; gave away our skirts for trousers, gave away our pap (corn flour) for tea, gave away our deities for their gods, gave away our dynasty for their religions, gave away our dignity for their grants (yes, Nigeria, an oil producing state still collects grants from a non-oil producing country like America), why won't they wade the stick? Remember, he who pays the piper, dictates the tune. Canada cancelled President Goodluck Jonathan's trip to their country slated for February and I am sure we are yet to experience the real backlash of the passing of the law. Now, advocates for the aberration called Homosexuality will say instead of focusing on the poverty, corruption and malfeasance in our country, the passing of the law is of no immediate importance. I beg to differ. We are a people that pride ourselves in high moral standards (at least I can speak for the Yoruba race from their existence till about 1970's, stories from my great grandfather), watch the word, PRIDE in MORALITY, not necessarily perfect in all things but we don't take fools for a trip. How long then would we wait to see bestiality allowed? If man can make love to a man and ladies can marry themselves, how long would it take for us to see some countries allowing man marry beast? We really need to be careful as a nation. The copy cat syndrome can only but destroy us and our over reliance on these western powers does us more evil than good. Remember, the hand of the giver is always on top! Why didn't the USA sanction Russia or China? The laws in these countries are stricter than that of Nigeria. They dare not because these countries have grown their respectability in the comity of Nations. The more we have corrupt leaders that siphon our collective wealth for personal gratification and in turn rely on Bill Gate to fight malaria in remote areas, then we would have sovereign nations telling us how to live our lives. The research carried out showed that out of every ten Nigerians, eight were against the act of homosexuality. It is not our style, that is not who we are, it is a strange culture, an aberration and passing of that law rightly carries the mandate of the Nigerian People. Let us not in a haste forget that as much as we have our unique issues and problems, we are a loving, hospitable happy people. We pride in our culture, traditions, regalia, totems and so on. So it is no surprise that this joke has gone too far! So I ask the question; Mustn't We re-evaluate our life as a nation? Mustn't We rededicate ourselves to true nation building to avoid being dictated to by foreign powers? Mustn't we raise medical centers for those people mentally derailed in our society, who took in everything their slave masters forced down their throat? Questions need to be asked, Answers need to be given. The first have been answered by signing that law, the next should be trying to help those who needs it, HOMOSEXUALS! Next, no matter the intimidation or diplomatic brouhaha from foreign partners (oh, sorry partners don't force their wish on others), Nigeria must not bow to detractors and we must not give away our dignity for their robe of shame! They said the law breached fundamental human rights of freedom of association. Who associates with gays? In Nigeria, who can really proudly say to his father I am gay, if he will not receive a resounding resetting slap; such that makes a malfunctioning brain to reboot and refocus. The few I know went into it because of poverty and the lure of get-rich-quick syndrome promised them. Many are regretting that move today and never proud of that act.We say NO to Homosexuality, it is not African, it is Not Nigerian, it is not what the human race was created to do. It is an aberration and as such mental sickness; people suffering from it should not be hated but assisted in getting help! 80% of Nigerian voices cannot be shut out, we stand to say NO to HOMOSEXUALITY!
