Lauryn Hill at 13, Booed on Stage!

When I saw this video, I was moved and I instantly thought I'd share it to inspire someone. Lauryn at 13 was an amateur singer and never sang in front of an audience before, not to talk of Apollo's never forgiving audience.

Visions from A Troubled Soul

His look was stern. He stood afar off, cutting a figure from a movie scene, the dark rising of a falling sun, or something like that if the movie ever gets a title. His shadow covered half of Lagos, or so it looks. It was a frightening sight, the streets closed, central business districts deserted and the ever combustible ojuelegba now a shadow of its former self.

David Cameron Emulates Nigerian Politicians; Bows in Religious Rite

Wonders will never cease. I had thought only Nigerian politicians are desperate to curry voters sympathy by appealing to their religious sensibilities but little did I know that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will tow that same line.

How We Disrespect D’BANJ

Dapo Oyebanji popular known and called D’banj is an entertainer extraordinaire with a recognizable life span on the Nigerian music scene for 10 years and more if you added his days before he 'blew'. D’banj cuts across to you as that regular guy with a tenacious penchant for mischief and a ‘loud’ penetrating personality that could even be intimidating at times (ask Dr Sid) yet our beloved D’banj has become the one people love to hate.

JONATHAN and BUHARI Are Not in the Same Category?

It was Fela Kuti who sang in one of his songs and said 'me and you no dey for the same category'  referring to his intellectual capabilities higher than that of his interlocutors. He was confident with what comes out of his brain; maybe because he uses it well or because he was certain he had achieved martyr despite his run ins with the then government.

Farabale... You need to be Crazy to be Blazing!

Have you ever been in that situation where you are scorned upon and told to your face that you are absurd just because you didn’t believe in settling for less? Sometimes it is subtly done or said yet open enough for you to know that that was meant for you.

APC Changed The Game Completely by choosing Osinbajo

I like to talk politics but I don’t like to write it. People like myself are regarded as ‘armchair’ analyst and one with limited knowledge on the subject. That set aside, if you have to talk about Nigerian politics, even armchair analyst have a good knowledge and sense of what could be if you open your eyes very well. What is there that is hard to say. Didn’t we hear and didn’t they confirm that $9.3 million was on a flight to South Africa? Have we heard the last of it? NO.

The Jealous Ex-Fiance and a deadly Acid Bath (Viewers Discretion Advised)

The doctor and nurses are running frantically through the hospital aisle, down the lobby and through other available paths scaring other patients and family. A man with an acid bath might be losing his life and since the owner of the specialist hospital and doctor had vowed that they would never allow a soul die an avoidable death in their hospital this year, they didn’t want to leave anything to chance.

Sight and Sound from COSON boycotted British Council Creative Expo 2014

News went round that creative individuals, organisations and government policy holders should boycott the British Council Creative Industries Expo 2014 held at the Westown Hotels in Ikeja Lagos.

Take a Risk Now!

Sitting here at the Westown Hotel off Sheraton opebi link road Ikeja for the British Council Creative Industries Expo 2014, I flash back few weeks back when I could never have been 'allowed' to attend such expository and self improving seminar because I should be in the office observing the rituals that will drop meager stipends into my salary account.
