ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE STILL THE BEST!

I know how hard it is to proclaim something best amongst competing rivals. It simply means that in quality and quantity it has an edge whether big or small. And because best can never be a subjective case in point, the quality that makes it best for me may not be the yardstick for what makes it best for another. So we revert to the populist tendencies;
in a group of people and their decisions on what is best, as long as we have more people choosing one brand than the other, we tend to decide that based on what the majority have said, it is the best.

For me, The English Premier League is the best League in Europe (Yeah, you can hear the bias in my voice). The reasons though are not farfetched. From proper branding and packaging to the flexibility and technical advancement in the EPL, I find it fascinating to watch. The analysis are on point (maybe because I only understand the English language) as much as the game itself.

Now the league is rounding off with less than 7 weeks to play for glory yet we are unable to decipher who will lift the prestigious trophy. This time last year, Manchester United was leading the pack with 11 points and we were almost certain they will win it. They racked up points on the road and only faltered (when they minimally did) to the very BIG team like Manchester City and Chelsea. This season however, Liverpool is leading the second placed team with just 2 points and leading the top 4 with 7 points. The drama and tensions are at the peak and with almighty Chelsea losing to lowly Crystal Palace and Man City held to a draw at Arsenal, the race widely opened up with the trophy still capable of going to Merseyside, Manchester or London.

The beauty in the game also is in the frailty of big team's inability to work over any small team as exhibited by Crystal Palace vs Chelsea, Arsenal vs Stoke City etc and the ridiculous score lines seen so far (Arsenal being at the whooping end of score  line like 6-0, 6-3 and 5-1) in the EPL. With games between Liverpool and Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City, we are yet to see the fireworks and decide where the league will tilt. So far, bookmakers think Man City has the title to lose, Mourinho believes his team can't win it and Arsenal hopes there are mathematically in it and Liverpool are actually in the driving seat. Whatever we believe, no one can put his/her hand on the chest and say "such and such" team has won the league. It will get down to the wire.
